AI for heat mortality: decoding climate and socio-economic nexus
In this project, We develop spatially explicit machine learning and knowledge graphs to integrate high-resolution temperature, humidity, air pollution, mortality, demographic, socio-economic, urbanisation, housing, transport, greenspace, and access to healthcare data in the UK. This AI-powered integration will enable us to build a never-before-seen model to predict heat-related mortality, and to downscale this model to ultra-high spatial resolution for heat adaptation, and urban planning, thereby benefiting society. Our UK model allows us to infer new knowledge to other regions in subsequent research, e.g., the Global South, where critical heat-health data and models are lacking but are essential for adapting vulnerable populations to global warming.
